Our Vision
"To deliver inclusive education for every child — regardless of disability, displacement, conflict, or poverty — ensuring each student has the opportunity to learn, thrive, and reclaim their future with dignity and hope."
Our Mission
"Our mission is to restore education and empowerment to marginalized children and women in Cameroon by providing inclusive education for every child, psychosocial support, and pathways to dignity. We ensure that no child is forgotten."
Founded to Guarantee Inclusive Education for Every Child
The Abundant Life Ministry for Blind & Deaf Children (ALMBDC) is a non-profit, non-political, non-discriminatory community-based philanthropic organization initiated in September 1996 in Belo, Boyo Division of Cameroon by Susan and Ilaja Jam, Baptist missionaries.
A detailed community study revealed that blind, deaf, physically disabled, and learning-challenged children were completely excluded from standard literacy and school programs across Boyo Division and the broader region.
ALMBDC was established to provide inclusive education for every child, equipping classrooms with Braille, sign language instructors, adaptive materials, and holistic care.
Protecting Education in Conflict
In 2016, civil conflict erupted in Cameroon's English-speaking North West and South West regions, drastically altering daily life. Thousands of families were displaced, schools were forced to close or burned, and an entire generation faced the threat of lost education.
In 2022, the community formally applied to restart the school, guaranteeing inclusive education for every child. Teachers and students persevered, sometimes studying in hiding or waiting weeks until it was safe to gather.
Today, ALMBDC continues to step into the gap — opening learning centers, providing daily food to displaced orphans, sponsoring students into secondary and university education, and rebuilding damaged infrastructure.
